Erin Potter Sullenger is an associate practicing in the firm’s Oklahoma City office. She is a member of the Environmental, Energy & Natural Resources, Administrative & Regulatory, Litigation & Trial and Indian Law & Gaming practice groups.

Prior to joining the firm, Potter Sullenger clerked for the Honorable Gregory K. Frizzell in the Northern District of Oklahoma and served as an honors law clerk at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the water enforcement division of the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance in Washington, D.C. At the EPA, she gained experience drafting and editing administrative and civil judicial enforcement matters under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.

Potter Sullenger received her Juris Doctor from The University of Tulsa College of Law, where she graduated with highest honors and earned a certificate in Sustainable Energy and Resources Law. Her academics took precedence, and as a result Potter Sullenger was named a Chesapeake Energy Law Scholar and a John and Hazel Rogers Scholar. In addition, she was awarded an Oklahoma Bar Association Section on Energy and Natural Resource Law scholarship and won the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Blake K. Champlin Award in environmental law. During her time in law school, Potter Sullenger served on the executive board of the Energy Law Journal and was the student editor in chief of the 2012 Year in Review for the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources. She also served as a law clerk for Federal Magistrate Judge T. Lane Wilson in the Northern District of Oklahoma.

In addition to her law degree, Potter Sullenger holds a Master of Science from the University of Virginia. Her thesis focused on biogenic hydrocarbon emissions and their impact on urban air pollution. Potter Sullenger’s research took her to the Duke Research Forest near Durham, North Carolina and the Sevilleta Wildlife Refuge in San Acacia, New Mexico. She also had the distinguished honor of presenting her research on biogenic hydrocarbon photochemical processes at the 2004 Gordon Research Conference in Barga, Italy. While completing a double Bachelor of Arts in environmental science and environmental thought and practice, Potter Sullenger interned as an environmental scientist at Groundwater and Environmental Services, Inc. where she gained practical and technical experience in groundwater and soil remediation applications and techniques. She completed a second internship at Merck & Co., Inc. where she served as an environmental engineer. Her responsibilities included creating an inventory management system for small storage tanks at a manufacturing plant and solving Clean Air Act issues for an onsite power station near a national park.

As an active member of the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources, Potter Sullenger serves as vice chair of the special committee for the section’s Year in Review, acts as a liaison with student editors at the University of Tulsa and speaks at symposiums and conferences on behalf of the committee. Potter Sullenger was also selected for the section’s 2014-15 leadership development program, which is designed to prepare members for future leadership positions in the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources. In addition to these leadership positions, Potter Sullenger is an active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Oklahoma County Bar Association, Oklahoma City Mineral Lawyers Society and Young Professionals in Energy.
